One reading tool that I have used in my classroom is Awesome Highlighter. This is wonderful to use for student research of informational text. When I model it with my students, I use a Time for Kids article. Students use the highlighter to find the main idea of a specific paragraph. I have also had students use the highlighter to practice finding facts and opinions.
